Minimum Wage Increase

Minimum wage increases in Ontario have been frozen since 2010. Effective June 1st, 2014, the General Minimum Wage is set to increase from $10.25/hour to $11/hour.

Ontario Premier, Kathleen Wynne, reports on the increase in the following statement:

"Increasing the minimum wage will help improve the standard of living for hardworking people across the province, while ensuring that businesses have the predictability necessary to plan for the future.”

While some argue that the minimum wage is not high enough, others feel that it is a step in the right direction.

Employers were given 4 months'

notice to adjust to the new Minimum Wage increase.

Budgeting Basics

If you're not sure where to start when it comes to budgeting, you are not alone!

"Instructions seem to be included with the simplest devices these days, and yet, with something as important as our pay cheques, we’re left to figure it out on our own. No one is born with money management skills. By the time we’re adults, we are expected to be able to manage our money effectively; however few of us are taught how."
