What services do you provide?

The Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre will help you meet your employment objectives. We can assist you with:

Call one of our offices to book an appointment with a Career and Employment Counsellor. We have three convenient locations to serve you.

 

What are the eligibility requirements for your service?

Any job seeker can use our Resource Centres. Our Reception Staff will assist you in determining the service most suited to help you find and maintain employment. We have government funded programs/services to maximize your employment opportunities.

 

Are you a temporary employment agency?

No, we are a not-for-profit organization that receives government funding to assist job seekers in securing gainful employment. We will help you find a full-time or part-time position based on your skills, education and past work experience.

 

Why should I use your services?

The job market has changed! With >95% of jobs posted on-line and thousands of on-line applicants, frustrated job seekers apply for positions with no response.

We have been in the business of helping job seekers, such as yourself, since 1983. We can tailor your résumé & cover letter to meet the specific needs of employers. We can offer employer ‘incentives’ to give you a chance to demonstrate your skills on-the job. We can also offer incentives to employers to offset their cost of on-the-job training. We will be there to support you through-out the process. (Why wouldn’t you use our free service over 25,000 job seekers, have).

 

Do you type résumés?

Not only will we type them, we will work with you to create a résumé that highlights your skills, appeals to employers and gets you the interview. Start the process today by booking an appointment with an Employment Counsellors.

 

Can I access your computers, and printers?

Yes there is no charge for this service but it is restricted to job search related. Call to reserve computer time. Print restrictions will apply.

 

Where are you located and do I need a car to get there?

Please see the contact page for our locations. All of our locations are easily accessible by public transportation and have ample free parking.
